COMMUNITY

Hey, honey!!

I am passionate about mothers receiving ongoing support to achieve their breastfeeding goals.  Part of that support includes lactation professionals of color in BIPOC communities. I offer a monthly breastfeeding support group to women of color and a lactation training support group for aspiring IBCLCs of color. My goal is to attack and mitigate the barriers Black, Indigenous and women of color by creating a space for culturally sensitive and skilled lactation professionals of color.

FUTURE IBCLCs of COLOR

Are you interested in becoming an IBCLC? Then join us in our Facebook community the Future IBCLCs of Color Less than 1 percent of lactation consultants in the US are BIPOC. In order to effectively increase the breastfeeding rates of Black, Indigenous and women of color in the US., we must train and employ more IBCLCs of color in healthcare. We are an initiative transforming communities by empowering breastfeeding mothers and women of color aspiring to become certified lactation consultants and IBCLC’s. IBCLC’s of color are needed to mitigate low breastfeeding disparities with black and brown families. This group will discuss the pathways offered, courses required, provide volunteering resources, tips, study sessions and more. We encourage you to connect with other aspiring/present IBCLC group members to garner the support needed during your journey.
